Letter From The Founder
When I founded the firm twenty-seven years ago, I had no idea how deeply my clients were going to change me over the years. Alfred Lord Tennyson once wrote, “I am part of all that I have met.” Those words could never be more meaningful as I look back over the many thousands of wonderful people I’ve met at my closing table.
The home. Nothing is more personal and held closer to our hearts. It’s where most of our fond memories are made — birthdays, anniversaries, babies’ first steps, holidays, grilling, Saturday football and perhaps even a wedding. It’s where we retreat for shelter from the storms, both real and emotional. It’s where we build relationships with our children and our spouses. We laugh there, and sometimes we cry there. Most of all, we rest and restore there.
As I turned the pages of the millions of documents signed before me, I’ve enjoyed meeting the first-time home buyer beaming at the prospect of participating in the American dream. I’ve met the up-sizers purchasing their dream homes as their careers flourish, and the down-sizers cutting expenses after their adult children move on to forge their own families. I’ve met heirs selling their childhood homes from their parents’ estates. I’ve met single parents still reeling from a divorce they never saw coming. All the while, the tissues were close by, and we’ve always tried to impart as much empathy as our hearts could afford.
I thank you for entrusting us with the closing of your most personal possession. We promise to celebrate your victories and your rites of passage. We promise to provide empathy when your transaction is not such a joyous occasion. Our goal is for you to leave the closing table and feel as though you’ve truly made a new friend.
